Everybody practices and says " Shivoham " ( I am That ) unconsciously , irrespective of one's being a dualist or a non-dualist , a devotee or a ritualist , a Hindu or someone else . All in their hearts of hearts believe themselves to be greater than the greatest and also try to prove themselves to be so .
The dualist devotee was only a short while back in the temple , and was not tired of repeatedly calling oneself an humble person and a sinner . Now , outside the temple in the open market , if any body addresses the devotee as an humble person or a sinner , one will burst in anger and will threaten to file a case of defamation against the other in a court of law .
You will thus see that the feeling of real " Shivoham " ( I am That ) in a person can never die . How can it die ?
It is the Truth and Truth cannot be crushed .
But , if you limit your identity to your body and mind only , you have no right to say " Shivoham " . It is self-deception . It is to misrepresent yourself as Vishnu , like Pondrik as is narrated in Bhagwat Purana .
As a matter of fact , the whole world is committing the same mistake of considering itself greater than the greatest , due to false pride . But this is wrong . It is like cooking milk-pudding in a dirty copper pot and dying of food poisoning .
Vedanta allows you to eat pudding , but not to cook it in a dirty copper pan . Vedanta does not want you to either regard yourself as your body or mind or to put on only the outer mask of Shivoham .
Instead , you must feel " Shivoham " from the very core of your heart so that it may consume , like a burning flame , all your inferiority complex .
If this is done , all your body consciousness , narrow-mindedness , fear , sorrow and sufferings will be destroyed . They will have no ground to germinate .
One , who knows this secret of oneness with All , becomes fearless and generosity incarnate . One becomes the source of power , strength and spiritual holiness .
Where does this strength come from ? Do you know ?
It emanates from the highest generosity of heart at the altar of which we must be prepared to sacrifice our all , body and mind etc .
Dear friends , observe . When we have discovered ourselves to be the Light of lights , it becomes easy for us to acquire the greatest heroism of self-sacrifice .
